Back-to-school vehicle maintenance

Summer’s dying down and the kids are back at school.  For many of us moms , and dads,  it’s time to cheer!  But with the school days also come the extra driving to and from school, after school activities & car pooling.  Not to mention our children of driving age that wouldn’t be caught dead arriving to school on the bus.  Ensure that your vehicles are in tip-top shape to carry your children, and their friends, from activity to activitiy safely!

  • Schedule your oil changes as recommended to avoid severe engine damage, and costly repair bills.    Typically,  your engine’s oil should be changed every 3 months, or 3000 miles.
  • Check and replace your air filter according to your vehicle’s factory recommended service schedule.  A clean air filter not only protects your engine by keeping impurities out, it also may improve gas mileage.
  • Tires, tires, tires!  Balancing & rotating your tires  periodically according to your vehicles factory recommended service schedule, as well as ensuring proper tire pressure, is vital to vehicle maintenance.  After all, your tires are the only thing that separate you, your passengers, and your vehicle from the pavement!

I have talked a lot about your vehicle’s factory scheduled maintenance schedule.  Not sure where to find this?  You should be able to find it in your vehicle’s manual (check the glove compartment).  However, if you don’t have your manual any longer, or it is tucked so far in the depths or your vehicle, don’t fret.  Visit our eCARe page on our website and sign up to view your vehicle’s schedule and receive maintenance reminders via email.
